You can’t teach champion.  If you watch baseball, there are plays that are routine that are taught consistently, over and over to perfect their execution.  A grounder to third with a runner on first and second, the third baseman will almost always throw to first and not run and tag the bag.  That throw is routine.  Same for a grounder to the pitcher; throw to first.  But Petitte threw to third, won 1 – 0 and propelled the Yankees to another World championship.

Pandemonium!  I just remember him body blocking people so he could touch home plate.  He never did until the field was cleared later…  Did I mention this was a walk-off, ALCS clenching, World Series propelling homerun?  PS. called by Phil Rizutto.

This moment, believe it or not, has yet to happen.  But I know it will.  Jeter will be the first unanimous inductee into the baseball Hall of Fame.  And deservedly so.  I was thinking Mariano but I know some writers have doubts about relievers going into the Hall because they’re not everyday players but Jeter?  There’s no excuse.  None.  And to make it more official, in 2018, Hall of Fame voting will no longer be anonymous.  Jeter’s first year of eligibility is in 2019.

What do you think?
