The definitive guide to the movement of the Black Panthers.  They began by policing the police and soon morphed into a global organization determined to fight the injustices of the american imperialistic system that had been continually victimizing the Black community.  They rejected the U.S. government and received world-wide praise as a catalyst against america’s quest for global domination.  This in the mid to late 60’s, arguably the most turbulent time in world history.

Did you know?

  • That while Nixon/Mao was being praised as historic, China had already hosted the leaders of BPP.
  • They fought for the rights of all community members including the ones that didn’t agree with their methods.
  • Huey Newton had a Ph. D in Social Philosophy.
  • Their original name was The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in lieu of the police brutality they had witnessed and endured.
  • Oct 15th, 2016 marked its 50 year anniversary.
  • In less than 1 year of inception, the FBI initiated a program to neutralize the party.
  • In a 1979 civil action, Fred Hampton’s family won $1.85 million from the city of Chicago in a wrongful death settlement.
  • Free Huey! received global support.

But through all the rhetoric, the Black Panther Party was a social organization whom’s ultimate goal was to give true freedom to Black people.  Through history, they’re viewed as crazy, thugs and criminals but who were they really?

An excellent source of American History.
